The characterization of eutectic microstructures is related to the effective entropy change and the volume fraction of eutectic phases. For eutectic growth, both parameters can be inter-associated as long as solidification occurs at small Peclet numbers. There is no determinate relationship between the volume fraction and the effective entropy change of either eutectic phases, and the volume fraction is only related to the ratio of the effective entropy change of the two phases.
